Minneapolis erupts in chaos as federal immigration agents fire on suspects for the second time in a week, sparking violent clashes with protesters while local Democrat leaders launch desperate legal attacks against Trump’s immigration enforcement surge.
Federal Agents Defend Themselves During Violent Arrest
An ICE agent shot a Venezuelan man in the leg on Wednesday during a chaotic arrest attempt in Minneapolis when the suspect and two accomplices violently resisted using a sweeping brush and a snow shovel as weapons. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the agent fired in self-defense after being assaulted, with all parties requiring hospitalization before the suspects were taken into custody. This marks the second ICE-related shooting in Minneapolis within a week, following the fatal shooting of U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good during a vehicle pursuit.

Minneapolis Officials Launch Constitutional Challenge
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison filed a federal lawsuit Monday seeking a temporary restraining order to halt the federal surge, alleging constitutional violations, including breaches of the First and Tenth Amendments. The lawsuit claims federal agents engage in racial profiling and viewpoint discrimination while commandeering local resources without proper authority. Mayor Jacob Frey accused ICE of creating chaos rather than safety, stating the majority of 2026 shootings in Minneapolis involve federal agents and condemning masked federal officers arresting American citizens.
Governor Tim Walz joined local officials demanding that ICE exit Minnesota, while the lawsuit alleges arbitrary federal actions that violate the Administrative Procedure Act. The legal challenge represents a direct confrontation between state and federal authority over immigration enforcement tactics. Federal officials defend their actions as necessary self-defense measures while pursuing legitimate fraud investigations and immigration law enforcement.
Violent Protests Strain Local Resources
Wednesday night protests involving approximately 100 demonstrators escalated into violent clashes as protesters threw objects at federal officers, who responded with tear gas, pepper balls, and flash bangs. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara declared the gathering unlawful as protesters displayed anti-ICE signs and confronted federal agents. The ongoing federal operation has cost Minneapolis taxpayers over $2 million in police overtime through January 11, with officers logging more than 3,000 overtime hours managing ICE-related incidents and protests.
Local businesses and schools have implemented lockdowns due to federal enforcement activities, disrupting normal community operations while creating fear among residents. The financial burden on Minneapolis demonstrates the real costs of federal immigration enforcement on local communities, even as federal agents pursue legitimate law enforcement objectives targeting fraud and immigration violations.

Do what they do in the communist controlled countries, haul them off to the gulags
This is way out of control, three seconds of a water cannon would surely put an end to this. They claim to to be demonstrating for a common cause that the all believe in just like a team. As is the case with most teams when one member screws up all team members suffer the consequences. When the first bottle, stone or whatever is used as a weapon bring on the water cannons. You wouldn’t treat cancer with a bandaid. Way too many are suffering because of so few.
Get rid of these liberal judges! Keep up the good work ICE!
